Forbes magazine was given Forbes.ru domain according to the court sittings

Since recent times, sorting out of relationships in the virtual sphere has become the main subject of urgent court sittings. The Moscow Arbitration Tribunal has adjudged Forbes.ru domain to the internet version of Forbes magazine that was earlier placed on the following address: Forbesrussia.ru. The former holder of Forbes.ru domain is Landmark VIP service that’s a travel agency.

Now the company, that organizes trips to Antarctica, has to give not only the domain, but also pay a rather big fine in amount of USD 300,000 because of  illegal use of the trademark in the domain.

Grigory Punanov who is the editor in chief of the internet version of the world known magazine has claimed that the publishing house offered Landmark VIP service company amicable agreement based on mutually beneficial conditions, but the management of Landmark has refused.

However Juriy Galustov who is director-general of Landmark VIP service has disposed this statement. He asserts that the magazine filed an action immediately, though the company could give the domain without proceedings at the court. Moreover, at the website of the company there’s mentioned that the domain name originates not from the name of the magazine, but from the name of the English scientist James David Forbes who worked on studying of glaciers. However these explanations did not make proper impression on the court.
